The Alberta Female Hockey League is proud to announce the Players of the Month for the month of November – Maddison Webster, Teah Mah-Fifi, Brooklyn Raczynski and Raya Kitz. The league is also proud to announce this month’s recipient of the Humanitarian of the Month Award, Brooke Rydel.
Humanitarian of the Month
Brooke Rydel – Edmonton Ice U18 AA
Brooke dedicates much of her time outside her team commitments by volunteering with a local U13 team, focusing on working directly with the team’s goaltenders. In this role, she has shared her expertise, and Brooke has built a strong bond with the entire team, becoming a mentor for the young athletes. Her efforts have created a seamless bridge between the teams, building the relationship between the two groups. The U13 team has developed a sense of excitement and pride in connecting with the Ice U18 AA players through her involvement. They frequently attend games, eager to watch and cheer on the girls, often expressing their admiration and enthusiasm. This connection goes beyond just attending games—it symbolizes mentorship and the power of building relationships within the sporting community. Brooke’s work has helped inspire the younger players, providing them with role models to look up to while fostering a sense of community between teams at different levels.
Players of the Month
U18 AAA – Maddison Webster – Calgary Fire Black – G (6GP, 2.50 GAA, .918 SV%)
Maddi’s performance over the past month is remarkable, beyond just her personal statistics and winning five of her last seven starts. What stands out is how she achieved these victories. Winning three consecutive shootouts in her first three starts and capping it off with an overtime win against the Fire’s cross-city rivals at the end of the month. With her playing partner injured, Maddi has taken on most of her team’s games and has stepped up as a leader, giving her best effort every time she steps onto the ice. As a first-year player in the league during her final year of U18, her dedication and resilience are truly impressive.
U18 AA – Teah Mah-Fifi – Calgary Fire Red – G (5GP, 1.20 GAA, .971 SV%)
Teah had an exceptional performance in November, having five starts and earning a save percentage above .950 in four of those games. She was a wall in net, helping her team maintain an impressive 8-0 record for the month. Teah is a dynamic goalie, and her positioning, rebound control, and competitive spirit on every play make her a pleasure to watch.
U15 AA – Brooklyn Raczynski – Edmonton Ice Blue – G (10GP, 2.40 GAA, .923 SV%)
Brooklyn showcased her exceptional skills and leadership by playing ten games in November while her goalie partner battled illness. Despite the challenging circumstances, she maintained impressive statistics and secured five wins for her team. Her commitment and ability to lead on the ice bolstered her team’s performance and earned her the nod for this recognition.
U13 AA – Raya Kitz – Lloydminster Western Financial Steelers – G (3GP, 0.66 GAA, .948 SV%)
In November, Raya emerged as an impenetrable wall for the Steelers, showcasing her remarkable talent in three games. During this impressive stretch, she secured two shutouts, proving her skill and determination. Her work ethic in practice played a vital role in her success, as it translated seamlessly into her performance on game day, earning her the admiration of teammates and coaches alike.
